Our Trip to Bali

Thinking about visiting Bali?!  We just returned and want to share a few things we learned to make your visit to Bali the best ever!

We flew from Seattle to Seoul to Denpasar Bali.  Total travel time there was 21 hours.  We stayed 4 days in Ubud, then 3 days on Nusa Penida, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali.  We ferried back to Bali and hired a car to take us north to Amed, a quiet fishing/scuba town.  We spent a week in Amed before making our way back to the airport.  Our route back took us to Sydney then Los Angeles, then Seattle.  It took 1 day 9 hours.  The longest flight was 13 hours from Sydney to LA, we were grateful that we booked the seats with extra room to recline and relax.

The electrical outlets in Bali are different than the US, so you need an adapter.  We borrowed one from our AirBnB until we bought one at the local M-mart (basically a 7-11) for 30,000 IDR ($2 USD).  You can purchase one before you go to Bali, but they’re cheaper to buy there.  Everything is less expensive in Bali.  Meals are only $4- $5, delicious coffee is $1- $2.  We rented 2 scooters for 2 days and it was $35 total.  Our first AirBnB was $125 per night, and it had a private pool, outdoor eating and cooking area, mini fridge, full bath with shower and soaking tub, closet with safe.  Our AirBnB on Nusa Penida was $32 per night, and our AirBnB in Amed was $35 per night!  Any AirBnB you find in Bali will be wonderful, granted you do a little research to make sure it’s in the area you want and offers the amenities you prefer.

Download the app Grab, it’s Uber in Bali.  And if you’re out and about and need wifi your cell carrier should offer a 24- hour travel pass.  We have Verizon and it was $10 for the 24-hour period.  We needed it to use Google maps when we were on scooters and for Whats App to communicate with local drivers, tour guides, etc.

We landed around midnight, and had to purchase our visas.  If you buy your visa when you land, look for the airport official at the giant square desk selling visas.  You can also buy your visa online before your trip, which no one told us. So, there you go!  Tip #1:  Buy your visa before your trip.  It costs the same.  After the visa line, we proceeded through the passport line.  Then we had to go through customs.  We had nothing to declare, so it was simple to fill out the info at the kiosk.   Be sure to take a photo of the QR code on the screen at the kiosk when you’re done filling it out.  It says you can print it, but we never got a print out.  You have to show that QR code to customs and that is your last step to getting through the arrivals.

Packing and things to know before you go

Bali_web_pic9

The above photo is how I packed.  Originally I ordered a backpack that wasn’t going to arrive in time, so at the last minute I found this on Amazon.  It worked out better because this one was expandable, and the other one wasn’t. Backpack on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C5D8RL1D?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

We read up on any health notices for Indonesia and decided to get the hepatitis A and typhoid vaccines.  No sense contracting something and having it ruin your trip!  There’s also a warning about the Bali street dogs having rabies… I reasoned that I’d just stay away from rabid dogs and skip the rabies shot.  Other warnings about Bali include: only drink bottled water, exchange your currency at a reputable site and if you’re on your period you can’t enter a temple.  (Menstruating is considered “unclean” and they prefer you don’t visit the temples.)  Just a few things I learned.  Oh, and marijuana may be legal where you live but it’s strictly prohibited in Bali.  Even the tiniest amount can get you 5-7 years in jail.  This is the country of a thousand temples, the people are deeply religious.

When exchanging currency you may be required to show your passport or government issued ID.  You can do a Google search for more info on exchanging currency.  Or check out this article: https://www.smoney.com.au/blog/currency-in-bali-indonesia/

Ubud

Our first AirBnB was in Ubud.  Link is:  https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/49263253?source_impression_id=p3_1691727791_RPQ7HCBE5K0N5Uex

This AirBnB said that once you check in,  you can’t request a refund or cancel just because of a few frogs, spiders, lizards and other local inhabitants.  These little guys are part of Bali, and if you don’t like it, don’t book this spot.  We bought mosquito repellent at the airport and received a few bites in Bali, but no more than a typical Northwest camping trip.    Bali_web_pic12

The pathway to our villa at Reswaha.  Bali_web_pic13

We drank a few seltzers and re-hydrated with Hydro Coco.  Yummy coconut water!

Bali_web_pic14

Typical breakfast was nasi goreng or mie goreng.  This morning we had a special dessert, a traditional Balinese sweet- Dadar Gulung.  It’s a pancake with shaved coconut inside.  The green color threw me off.   It tastes better than it looks.

Bali_web_pic15

When we didn’t have breakfast at our AirBnB, we walked across the street and ate at Akusara.  Wonderful coffee (DON’T put your spoon on the button of the cup to stir!  There are always coffee grounds on the bottom.)

All the homes and shops make great use of natural resources.  This cafe had sliding wooden doors that opened onto the sidewalk patio.   Everything is open air!

We booked a 90 minute couples message on the first full day we were in Ubud.  The massage therapists came to our AirBnB and the total was about $16 per person.

The next day we took a tour called the Best of Ubud.  The link is: https://www.viator.com/tours/Ubud/Private-Sightseeing-Tour-Ubud-and-Waterfall/d5467-86621P5?m=28353&supag=68732029897&supca=1939178107&supsc=aud-435409373039:dsa-650389793948&supai=660585468216&supdv=c&supnt=g&suplp=9033417&supli=&supti=aud-435409373039:dsa-650389793948&tsem=true&supci=aud-435409373039:dsa-650389793948&supap1=&supap2=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwldKmBhCCARIsAP-0rfxUNlQtaPOqFPnwoPRNBUklIkNga6zJHQgr1Kd3z9_vngXCQe66BKYaAvI2EALw_wcB

Next stop on the Best of Ubud tour was a traditional Balinese wood carving shop. Bali_web_pic40

Like I mentioned earlier, if you let your tour guide know a bit about yourself, he may make recommendations about things to do that are not on the tour.  We got on the subject of coffee because we live near Seattle, the home of world famous Starbucks.  Rio, our guide asked us if we wanted to try luwak coffee.  The description reads: “Catpoochino coffee, the most exotic, rich, smooth and excellent coffee from Bali.”  Luwak is a little animal, kind of like a cat, that eats the red coffee cherry and as the coffee cherry bean is in the animal’s stomach it undergoes fermentation.  Then, you guessed it, the coffee bean exits the animal and people come along and collect it!  Who ever had the idea to do this is nuts to me!  But they peel it down to just the inside of the coffee bean, which is totally sanitary, it’s cleaned, dried, roasted and ground using the Balinese traditional process.

Some of our favorite things- Cleo was the giant bottle of water we affectionately referred to as Miss Cleo!  Arak is the local Balinese rice vodka, which we mixed with either orange water or sparkling soda.  Eventually we discovered arak madu and LOVED it!  Arak madu is: Arak, water, lime juice and honey.  In this photo is a box of luwak coffee (cat poo coffee!)  It is some of the best coffee we’ve ever had. Nusa Penida

At the ferry terminal on our way to Nusa Penida!  Pro tip:  We booked a day trip to explore Nusa Penida which included the ferry ride.  We told them that we wanted the ferry ride and guided tour and after that, instead of going back to the ferry, we wanted a ride to our AirBnB on Nusa Penida.  The tour company picked us up at Reswaha (our Ubud AirBnB), drove us to the ferry terminal and a different guide picked us up at the Nusa Penida ferry terminal, drove us to our AirBnB so we could drop off our bags and change, then gave us a private tour of Nusa Penida.  All that was included for $90 USD per person.  The ferry ticket was included and all parking and entry fees to the tourist sights.   Link: https://www.viator.com/tours/Kuta/Bali-East-Nusa-Penida-Tour-All-Inclusive/d22290-100838P7Bali_web_pic69 Bali_web_pic70

We had a shared pool, but it was just before the busy season (August) so no one was ever in the pool.  This place is HEAVEN!  The gardens and grounds are gorgeous, there’s a view of the mountains.  It’s peaceful.  There were puppies roaming the grounds.  The people who operate it are the nicest people we’ve ever met!  They hooked us up with scooters for 2 days.  It may have been our favorite spot! This is Tara rooftop resto & bar.  This is the reason why I wanted to visit Nusa Penida!  It looked so dreamy on Google.  We had lunch here, and while the food was just OK, the view was really stunning.  I am thankful to this restaurant because it’s the reason we went to Nusa Penida, and we ended up LOVING our time there! Bali_web_pic99

Our scooters!! Now Nick wants to buy one, or two. Bali_web_pic100

We were there as the country was getting ready to celebrate Galungan.  Which is a Balinese holiday that celebrates the victory of dharma over adharma (the triumph of good over evil). It marks the time when ancestral spirits of deceased relatives visit the Earth.  Sort of like Halloween and the Day of the Dead! It’s 10 days long in Bali.  Heads up because some shops and services close.  I tried to exchange some currency on our last day and many local places were closed.  Bali_web_pic101

Our AirBnB in Amed!  $22 USD/night.  This place included EVERYTHING!  We had A/C, bottled water service, wifi, mini fridge, hot water, rooftop lounge area, front porch, and breakfast was included!  Are you kidding me?!  Now I see why people live here for months at a time!  There was no pool, but we were across the street from the beach!  And the people who run Rumah Diyah run Bali Dive Cove, a scuba shop.  Amed is scuba and snorkel central!  It has a young person vibe.  Link to our AirBnB:  https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/603749957906311969?adults=2&check_in=2023-09-06&check_out=2023-09-09&source_impression_id=p3_1691990614_V0fztGTQR7RS34Hw&previous_page_section_name=1000&federated_search_id=031c7c64-6ee7-4369-a908-d5cbff26bf95Bali_web_pic105

Brittany + Danny Wedding

When you’ve been in the wedding industry for 10 years you get to know the other players involved.  Years ago I stepped inside Celestial Selections wedding dress shop and made a partnership (and friendship) with Brittany and Teresa.  Most people know Teresa, she’s the fabulous owner, and Brittany is (in my mind) the head honcho on the sales floor.  Any way, these ladies are rock stars at helping brides find their dream gown.  Their expertise in the field is rivaled by few and they’re just super awesome people.  Brittany asked me lots of questions about my family’s home (where we have weddings) and in 2017 she decided that our space was right for her own wedding!  WOW!  Brittany from Celestial Selections wanted to have her wedding at my family’s home!  What an honor!  Brittany’s husband, Danny, had a connection to my dad through classic cars so he felt comfortable at the Bel Air.  Brittany, Danny, their sons, their family and about 300 of their closest friends gathered on a Friday afternoon to celebrate.  Check out the images to see Brittany’s gorgeous gown from   https://www.celestialselections.com/

If you scroll down far enough you’ll recognize the staff from Celestial Selections! All of Brittany’s co workers came to celebrate with her!  Also check out Danny’s Corvette, and Brittany and Danny’s guest’s hot rods.

Guests stopped in the formal garden to sign an old pickup truck hood then headed into the ceremony area.  After the ceremony everyone made their way to one of the front fields for food and refreshments.  The bride’s family had assembled a wooden frame to string lights and greenery on.  Under the wooden structure the couple danced their first dance, and all the little flower girls and kiddos looked on at the father daughter dance and mother son dance.  Everyone partied until dark then said their congrats one more time and drove their hot rods home.   Thank you Brittany and Danny for choosing the Bel Air!  That was a day we’ll never forget!

Travel Tips

I travel a lot, for work and for pleasure.  As a photographer and artist, I’ve learned the value of seeing the world.  It’s important to me to experience new places, cultures and gain inspiration.

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size

Recently I was giving my cousin and her husband a lift to the airport and as I pulled up to their house she shouted out the front door, “We’re running about 10 minutes behind.”  I laughed and thought, no problem, I usually am too!  When they got in the car I asked her the same series of questions I ask myself when leaving for a trip.  Did you pack all your chargers, toothbrush, toothpaste, ID and plane tickets? Extra pair of clothes in your carry on?  I have a mental check list of what I know I like to travel with and I was just throwing it out there to see if there was anything they may have forgotten.
As we talked about packing and traveling my cousin said, “You should write a blog about what to pack!”
With so many people going on summer vacations and honeymoons I thought it might be helpful to share some of my tips and tricks.  Keep in mind, I don’t have children, so my list is going to look way different than my friend’s with little ones.  But this list is a good list for many people on many different types of trips.  Whether you’re traveling in the winter or summer or your destination is warm or rainy, this list should come in handy.
Also keep in mind the type of trip you’re going on.  Is it tropical?  Are you backpacking through Europe?  What will you be doing on your trip?  Going to a wedding?  Relaxing by the pool?

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size2 Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size3

When I was 20 I moved to England for 6 months.  I was young, and had never been away from home.  I ran out and bought the largest suitcase I could find!  Six months away from home in a foreign country is a long time, I needed to pack my entire bedroom!  Or so I thought…. I remember a great piece of advice our teacher gave us, he said, “Pack light.  Don’t worry about having a different outfit every day.  And ladies, just pack one club outfit. You’re not going to see the same people every time you go out.”  Wow, was he right!  Of course that was 14 years ago, and social media wasn’t what it is today, so people do in fact see you in the same outfit, however, switch up your necklace and earrings when you go out and your selfies will look different each time.  Trust me.
When I travel I only bring a carry on.  Yes, even when I am photographing a destination wedding, I take my camera bag as my personal item, and the rest of my gear is in my suitcase with my clothes and toiletries.  If I can pack all that in a carry on, believe me, you can too!
So, let’s get to it.  Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size4CLOTHES:
Look up the weather report before you go.  Are you thinking about a trip that’s happening in 6 months?  Search weather averages for the month and destination.
Pack lightly!  I can not stress this enough!!  When I go on a trip and I don’t wear something I packed, I feel like I cheated myself out of suitcase space.  I could have left that extra skirt at home and had room to buy one more souvenir!  Plan out what outfit you’re going to wear each day.  With a little planning you’ll pack smarter, and lighter.
I fit everything into one carry on bag so I don’t do the whole “pack an extra set of clothes into your carry on bag.”  However, if you do check a bag, then please, by all means, pack an extra top and bottom into your carry on.  And, at the very least pack a pair of underoos and the essential toiletry items.  My list of essential toiletry items is:  toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodorant.  For me, I would also pack mascara and an eye brow pencil.  Your essentials may include: foundation, face wash, moisturizer, etc.

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size5Here’s a true story from that same cousin I recently took to the airport.  After their wedding in 2016, my cousin and her husband went to the Caribbean islands for their honeymoon.  During the first leg of their trip a woman died on their plane!  My cousin said it was horrible.  The flight attendants did everything they could to resuscitate the woman, but unfortunately nothing could be done to save her.  The plane had to make an emergency landing in Billings, MT and they were grounded there for 6 hours while they waited for a new plane to come in from Denver.  I did not know this, but when someone dies on your flight, the plane is considered a crime scene.  Any way, they missed their connecting flights and had to stay one night in Miami.   Their bags were checked all the way to the Caribbean and she said they couldn’t go out and enjoy Miami because they didn’t have anything.  Learn from others’ experiences, always pack the necessities and a change of clothes in your carry on if you’re checking the rest of your stuff.
Shoes.  I recommend traveling in your biggest pair of shoes. For example, when I’m headed some where and I want to wear my cowboy boots, I always wear those through the airport.  They slip on and off easily through TSA and they’re comfortable.  For some people tennis shoes or hiking boots may be your bulkiest pair, so wear those and pack your smaller shoes such as flip flops and flats in your bag.  I don’t recommend wearing shoes with laces through TSA because they take so long to tie, but at least if you’re wearing them, you’ll have more room in your luggage.

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size6TOILETRIES: I have my list of essentials, but if you’re in the market for a new set of TSA approved toiletries buy them from Travel Badger.  Web site:  https://travelbadger.com/   They have 3 levels of products ranging from good, to better to best.  And they even have organic, unisex and children’s kits! They’re absolutely perfect for traveling, and you could even throw one in your car or fifth wheel.   Seriously check them out.  And admire the photography on their web site 😉
Back to my list of toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, curling iron/straightener (don’t pack a hair dryer, every hotel has one) make up (just the essentials, I remove any make up from my case I know I won’t be wearing), face wash, moisturizer and razor.
All liquids and gels must be 3.4 oz. or smaller.  I also pack contact solution and my glasses.
I don’t pack lotion or body wash because hotels carry that. I don’t pack a loofa and use a wash cloth instead.
When packing toiletries think about where you will be staying and consider what is already provided.  Do I like using the hotel body lotion? No, I prefer my Aveeno.  But I’m going to be there 4-7 days and I can make do.  The one thing I can’t travel without is my electric toothbrush.  I once did a 2 week trip around the southeastern US with a regular toothbrush and my dental hygienist had a fit at my next cleaning!  So, obviously if there is anything related to maintaining your health pack it.  Pack any needed medication, sunscreen, etc. No, 10 pairs of shoes are not related to maintaining your health!

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size7OTHER:  These are the miscellaneous, technology and other items I pack.
Phone charger, iPod/iPad and mini speaker, something to read/keep me entertained, tablet/lap top, head phones.  I love playing music where ever I go.  And I am old fashion when it comes to my little portable speaker.  If you have a Bluetooth speaker then pack that (as long as it’s small!).Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size8For international travel, pack important documents like your passport, plane tickets, printed out directions, hotel info, etc.  More and more places have internet now, but what do you do when you’re standing in the taxi line in Mexico, your Spanish is weak, at best, and you’re trying to explain to the driver which hotel at which you’re staying?  It’s much easier to show them the reservation with the hotel’s name and address on it!  Screenshot all the reservations you make and have them on hand when dealing with transportation and Customs.  Also, make copies of your passport and keep it at home.

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size9THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU LEAVE: The week before a trip I get online and notify my bank and credit cards.  Write down the phone numbers of your bank and credit card in case either are lost or stolen and keep that piece of paper packed in your luggage.  I don’t keep it in my purse because if my cards are in there and it’s stolen… well then that doesn’t help me, does it?  A night or two before I leave for a trip I charge my toothbrush.  If it’s a long trip (more than 2 weeks) I will pack the charger with me.  Set up plans with a house sitter.  We ask a neighbor, friend or relative.  Have your house sitter take care of your pets and plants.  Some people prefer their house sitter to stay the night.  Just make sure to notify your neighbors that; #1 you’re going away for X amount of days and #2 some one is watching your house and they drive such and such a car.

Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size13THINGS NOT TO DO:  As tempting as it is to post all your fabulous beach photos on social media, don’t do it!  The June 2018 issue of Men’s Health magazine ran an article that stated: “Most burglaries happen in the summer, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics.”  The magazine mentioned that people who post on Facebook that they’re on vacation are prime targets. Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size11

I could write an entire series on packing and traveling.  I could go on and on about what to do and what NOT to do.  Take for example the use of technology, which makes several aspects of our life, including travel, easier.  We can discover new places and plan trips with so much detail it’s like we know the place before we even get there!  But of course, BEING there is the point of traveling.  Tasting the food, hearing the language, smelling the salt water.  Live in the moment, don’t stress over what you’re wearing or how your hair looks.  I can guarantee these three ladies were having the time of their lives on the tiny island of Jost van Dyke in the British Virgin islands!  The just jumped from a boat, getting all their money soggy, walked their beach drenched hair and beach bums right up to the Soggy Dollar bar (hence the name, tourists have to swim from anchored boats to the island) and ordered a round of pain killers. Emmas_Packing_Tips_web_galleries_size12Remember to travel light and pack an extra pair of underwear.
Cheers friends! xoxo, Emma

Mikaela + Kevin = Wedding

Working with a dream team of wedding vendors ALWAYS creates a memorable and enjoyable wedding day!  We’ve all heard wedding horror stories, lost tux pants, lost marriage certificate, lost rings (gosh, it’s easy to lose things on wedding day!)  Mikaela and Kevin’s wedding did encounter a hiccup.  Just before their Sept. 15, 2017 wedding, hurricane Irma hit Florida, and as a result wiped out the order of flowers Mikaela had placed for her wedding.  Mikaela sent me a message on Monday, the week of the wedding, and mentioned to me the problem they had with the flowers.   I reached out on a wedding vendors Facebook page I belong to and asked if any florists could help.  The help flooded in (oops, no hurricane Irma pun intended)!  I had Mikaela in touch with a florist within one day!  Thank you Susie Griffin for saving the show!  Everyone in that Facebook group was so helpful, passing along names and contact info.  It made me realize what it meant to work with true professionals, who are not only passionate about what they do, but are so unbelievably caring and devoted to their clients!  At Mikaela and Kevin’s wedding I met another professional who clearly is crushing it at the hair and make up game.  Lacey Moen-Rubleski and her team from http://earthlybeautybar.com/index.html   were so much fun to work with.  And they convinced me that Lip Sense is worth it!!!  The bride and bridesmaids wore dramatic red lipstick, and it looked just as phenomenal 10 hours after it had been applied!  I am over the moon happy for this Disney, Seahawk, dog loving couple!  Haha Check out the details in the shoes, sand ceremony and dessert table.   I caught up with Mikaela recently and her and Kevin are enjoying married life together.  Six months down, forever to go.   Cheers!  xoxo, Emma

Abby’s 6 Month Session

I put out a few images as a teaser for this session a few weeks ago.  Then I got super slammed and I am happy to say I have circled back to this session and finished it!  I may be biased because Lisa is one of my longest and dearest friends, but her and her daughter are one of the most beautiful duos I have ever photographed!  I wish Abby’s dad Stefan could have joined us, but he will be there at the next one!  At the rate babies grow and change it’s important to do multiple photo sessions during the first year.  I’m happy Lisa and Stefan will have these beautiful photos to flip through and share with Abby when she gets older.  In 10 years when this blog doesn’t exist, the 4″ x 6″ prints I ordered for them will still be around, in the image box I designed for Abby when she was born.  Awe, the power of the printed photograph!  Now everyone run out and print your 10 favorite images you took with your phone in the last month, because who knows what’s going to happen with technology and all the photos on our phones.  OK, end of my public service announcement! 🙂  And a huge Thank You to my wonderful, kind, sweet friend Lisa for sharing her little miss sunshine with me (Lisa, remember we loved that movie!!??  Little Miss Sunshine!)  Love you Lisa!!!! xoxo, Emma

Stephanie + Jake Wedding

Stephanie and Jake, along with their friends and family, threw a beautiful wedding celebration at the Bel Air Exclusive Venue on July 15, 2017.  Steph and Jake’s taste in decor, flowers, the groomsmen’s suits and the bridesmaid’s dresses was bridal magazine worthy.  Check out Stephanie’s beautiful bouquet arranged by Evergreen Florists.  Stephanie’s day started at Maud, a hair and make up salon in downtown Spokane.  The wedding party enjoyed Shamus’s Sandwiches in the studio and the carriage house at the Bel Air.  Then everyone slipped into their attire and the first look was under way around 2:30 p.m.  A very warm 5:00 p.m. ceremony was short and sweet and guests retreated to the showroom for the reception.  Emily, the maid of honor, and Joe, the best man gave memorable toasts and Jake and his mom toasted the mother- son dance with a shot of Tequila!  They kicked off the dance party and the evening was a blur of dancing and visits to the bar.  At the end of the night Stephanie and Jake literally took the plunge and jumped in the pool!  We’re so happy these two came together, and the celebration that took place was as fun and perfect as they are!  Thank you for being an awesome couple!  Love you both. xoxo, EmmaSide 01-01Side 02-02 Side 03-03Side 04-04 Side 05-05 Side 06-06 Side 07-07 Side 08-08 Side 09-09 Side 10-10 Side 11-11 Side 12-12 Side 13-13 Side 14-14 Side 15-15 Side 16-16 Side 17-17 Side 18-18 Side 19-19 Side 20-20

Kurt + Lisa = Wedding

I could not dream of a better couple then these two.  I’ve known Kurt for about 12 years (maybe closer to 13!) and it feels like I have known Lisa for just as long.  Lisa is such a good hearted lady.  It was an honor to get to photograph these two, and their families and friends.  Lisa, originally from Laural, MT and Kurt, originally from Spokane, picked Bozeman as a good in between spot to gather all their loved ones for the big day.  At the beautiful Holy Rosary Catholic Church in downtown Bozeman they exchanged vows, then it was off to the Rockin TJ Ranch to eat, drink and be married!  Thank you my dear friends!  I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!  Love you!  xoxo, Emma

Brooklyn’s new born session

Miss Brooklyn is just as stylish as her mommy!  I love the theme of this session.  Light and airy.  Girlie with out the glitter and hot pink.  If you look closely you’ll see Brookyln smiling and even flashing a peace sign!  It seems like just yesterday Hillary and I were running around downtown Spokane taking her senior photos.  In the blink of an eye I’m photographing her with her beautiful new born and fiance!  I’m am so happy and excited for this family!  Congratulations Hillary and Zach!  Brooklyn is perfect.  xoxo, Emma

Taylor Class of 2018

Taylor is such a sweet girl! It’s quite an accomplishment when you think about everything she’s doing – she’s finishing her Junior Year, doing Running Start, working a job, playing volleyball, and looking at colleges.  Even with all of that going on, Taylor, her mom and little sis made time to come by the studio and surrounding property and do a phenomenal photo session!  Thank you for making this a memorable experience.  I can’t wait to see which images you select to have printed!  Congrats on making it to your Senior year!  xoxo, Emma
